The third season of The Voice UK is starting on BBC1 this Saturday night. To promote the show, which features Australia’s biggest pop star Kylie Minogue, BBC released a rather creepy promotional clip.
Set in a maternity ward with crying babies, the trailer sees Minogue with fellow judges Tom Jones, will.i.am and Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson acting as doctors.
One at a time the doctors turn around to discover a new born baby singing ‘Flashdance… What a Feeling’.
The child prodigy gets the seal of approval from all four, with Kylie announcing “I think we’ve found the one” before will.i.am employs his trademark compliment: “that baby’s dope”…
Conceptually this promo clip is…how can I put it…interesting. But the execution is all a bit wrong.
Unfortunately for the BBC the comments on YouTube have been less than positive.
“That is… disturbing.”
“This is the weirdest Music show trailer i have ever seen… I’m actually speechless!! WHAT WAS THAT?? :/”
“creepy as hell!”
“What the f*#k did I just watch.”
“No. A star won’t be born. A pub singer with a sob story who maxes out at number 31 in the charts WILL BE BORN.”
But not everyone is anti weird singing babies with one user saying:
“That’s the cutest promo for a music talent competition I’ve ever seen.”
We want to know what you think.
