As allegations of police brutality become a common feature of the ongoing US protests, an officer in the city of San Jose is under internal investigation after being caught on video apparently enjoying the prospects of a violent clash with protestors.

The 33-year-old officer, named as Jared Yuen, was seen to be grinning and swaying from side to side as he and colleagues prepared to go head-to-head with civilian demonstrators.

He is then heard to shout “Let’s get this ****.” Moments later, he is captured on video saying “Shut up bitch” to a demonstrator.

People on the scene notice his actions and one protestor can be heard saying: “This is funny to them. They have smiles on their faces.”

You can watch footage of the confrontation here:

Reaction from police chief and city’s mayor

“I’m not happy with his actions. I’m sure if Jared was sitting here, he would be embarrassed as well,” said the city’s police chief, Eddie Garcia said. “But I will tell you, I know Jared and he is a good kid who made a mistake, who let his emotions get the better of him.”

But not everyone has been so forgiving.

“I found the video of Officer Yuen’s statements particularly disturbing and his conduct in sharp contrast with what was otherwise overwhelmingly admirable professionalism in our department,” said mayor Sam Liccardo.

Aussie reporter is attacked in London

Meanwhile, in a bizarre incident in London, Channel Nine’s European correspondent, Sophie Walsh, was attacked while she was live on air discussing demonstrations taking place in Paris in support of George Floyd.

Walsh can suddenly be heard screaming and subsequently explains that a man had come up and grabbed her, while shouting “allahu akbar” and making motions to stab her.

You can watch what happens on Nine Perth’s Twitter Feed here:

You can see Sophie Walsh’s reaction on Twitter. He was then chased down by the TV cameraman, Jason Conduit, and bystanders. Police arrived and arrested him on charges of threats to kill and possession of an offensive weapon as he had a screwdriver.

Thank you for your messages. The man has been arrested for threats to kill and carrying a weapon. I’m shaken but ok. Big thanks to my incredible camerman Jason Conduit who chased him down armed with a light stand and got him arrested. https://t.co/YRxrUB3j4l
