Rather than the usual gap of more than two years, these two tournaments will not take place just over 12 months apart, so anyone impressing at Euro 2020, will not have long to wait until they are on the big stage again.
Big names such as France, England and Belgium head the betting at the Euro 2020 new betting sites, can one of these three take home the trophy or will we see an upset?
Can France Win Again?
France are right in the middle of an exciting period of football. When they were young and emerging, they performed with credit to finish runners-up on home soil, losing the Euro 2016 final to Portugal.
They then went on to win the 2018 World Cup, beating Croatia in the final. This team is still in its prime now, and if they can perform well here at Euro 2020, regardless of whether they win this tournament or not, they will be fancied by many to lift back to back World Cup’s when they head to Qatar in 2022.
A win for France at Euro 2020 would more than likely ensure they were favourites heading into the 2022 World Cup.
England to Shine?
Anyone who saw England perform at the 2018 World Cup would have seen a young team who played very well but looked sure to improve in the future and challenge hard. The next big challenge for this team is Euro 2020, and if they can win or go close in that competition, their 2022 World Cup chances would certainly receive a big boost.
Many parts of this England team are still lacking in experience, which they are going to gain this summer and then hopefully put that to good use in just over 12 months in Qatar.
England will be fancied to play well at the World Cup almost regardless of how they perform at Euro 2020, but a top four finish would enhance their chances further.
Last Chance for Belgium’s Golden Era?
Belgium are coming towards the end of what has been a really golden period for football in the country. However, as those who follow the latest sports news will know, so far they have not turned that into a trophy.
With big name player all arriving on the scene and playing together for many years, leaving this period without a trophy would be seen as a failure in the country. They have two chances left to change that, starting with Euro 2020.
However, a poor showing here would make a 2022 World Cup win even less likely, as the players involved would all be a year older. Should Belgium disappoint, look for their 2022 odds to lengthen.
