Six months before graduation
Without proper planning graduation days can be hectic and overwhelming. So to help you prepare for the graduation day months ahead, we have made a list. Check it out!
Consult an Academic Advisor to review your degree plan
Seniors must collaborate closely with their advisors to ensure they are on the right track for graduation and understand the requirements. Changes to your course selections should be communicated to your counselor.
Submit your graduation application
Complete your graduation application to ensure you are on the list. Register for the ceremony and publish your name exactly as you’d like it to seem on your diploma. Most schools will require you to pay a graduation fee when you submit your application, and you may also be needed to complete a Graduation Survey. Your school will audit your transcripts to ensure you are eligible for graduation. If you still have courses to meet, work closely with your academic advisor to confirm your eligibility.
Three months before graduation
Three months before your graduation ceremony is a good idea to order and keep your items ready and have everything with yourself by the day of your graduation.
Order your Cap and Gown
Close to graduation, your school will schedule a fitting and order your graduation cap and gown. To avoid tripping on the dress, the length should be at least 1″ off the floor when selecting your gown size.
Order your class ring and graduation invitations here
A class ring symbolizes the time you put into your education. Other vendors will be available when you order your cap and gown to order your class ring, graduation announcement, and invitations. Your school’s embossed logo and colors will appear in the announcement. Many custom sign companies also offer less expensive alternatives.
Graduation Photos
Plan your graduation photos to arrive in time for you to send out invitations. Graduation portraits should be mailed with invitations/announcements and be used on graduation signs.
Six weeks before the graduation
As the graduation day comes to pass, you might be a little excited and a little nervous. Here’s what you can do 6 weeks before the graduation to keep jitters away.
Pick up your graduation gown and invitations
Your graduation cap, gown, and class ring will be delivered shortly. Some items will be mailed to you, while others will be available at school. As things arrive, double-check that they are all included, that nothing is damaged, and that everything fits appropriately.
Complete All School Requirements
Before graduation, most schools will require you to submit any projects. You will also need to complete an Exit Interview if you have student loans. Also, make sure that all library or other school debts are paid.
