Lantern Festival: Why it’s celebrated and when it is celebrated

Lantern Festival is also known as the Yuan Xiao Festival is celebrated every year. This takes place during the Lunar Year celebrations. The Lunar celebration is of course celebrated on the first of February. Yes, not the first of January. 

During the Lantern Festival, people really tap into spirituality as it is all about forgiveness and remembering their ancestors. While there are many celebrations that might be confusing. Some might just be too many to count. But, the Lantern Festival is celebrated very simply.

So, keen on learning how the Lantern Festival is celebrated? It actually does say a lot in the name itself. This festival is very much family orientated and is generally celebrated with families eating together. 

The obvious and common activity associated with the Lantern Festival is to light a lantern. Some individuals might choose to light a lantern on many other occasions. But this tradition dates back to many years ago when people would pay respects to the Buddist God as reported by Tass.

Something cuter about this tradition is that the colorful lanterns are filled with some riddles. If one answers this correctly, the riddle solver will receive a small gift. Now, just as the world evolves so does the tradition.

Well, the Festival has come to a close on the 15th of February and many have made the most out of their peaceful day and family time. This celebration ultimately welcomes new things and changes.
