Just when you thought it was safe to go fishing with a handline on an Australian beach…
A bloke managed to haul in this huge tiger shark using just a handline, on Shelley Beach in Western Australia.
Keen fisho, Brendan Hilder from Albany WA told the Albany Advertiser he was completely buggered after battling the 4 metre beast, with just his bare hands on the 200lb fishing line, for a full two hours. Following such a Hemmingway worthy duel, no doubt the shark was as well.

Hilder eventually needed help from a bystander to land his mighty adversary, caught using a salmon bait on a row of four ganged hooks.
“It would have taken me a hell of a lot longer,” Mr Hilder said, adding, “A four-metre shark has a fair bit of pull on it. I was absolutely knackered.”
Hilder reportedly released the shark back into the surf after a well earned photo session with his vanquished toothy foe.
