Q: I am currently awaiting the approval of my Tier 2 General application. I am a Pharmacist which position is listed on the Shortage Occupation List. I have noted however that new changes to the Shortage Occupation List came into effect where certain positions were removed from this List, including that of a Pharmacist. How will this affect my pending application? Will the position now have to be advertised etc?
A: It is true that changes to the Shortage Occupation List were announced on the 14 November 2011. The following positions were removed from the List: Secondary Education Biology Teachers; Speech and Language Therapists; Pharmacists; Orthoptists and Veterinary Surgeons. As your application was already submitted to the British High Commission before the 14 November, these changes will have no effect on your application.
