At an event at the Sydney Opera House, Guy Sebastian was named Australia’s entrant for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna.
Australia was offered a wildcard entry to compete at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest and Australians will also be able to vote for their favourite performances for the first time.
Sebastian told ABC News that he is “pumped” to be performing in front of approximately 200 million people.
He said he would consider either singing a song off his newly-released album or writing a new one.
“I want it to represent us as a nation well but also just be fun or be emotional. Either super fun or like a big ballad or something that showcases my voice,” he said.
This will not be the first time Sebastian has represented Australia on an international scale, after winning Australian Idol in 2003. The singer-songwriter represented Australia in the United Kingdom at World Idol, an international version of the show, where he placed seventh.
