A RARE collection of Penfolds Australian wines is to go on sale in London this month, with a price tag of £1.2 million.
‘The Penfolds Collection’ is billed not just as a collection of wine, but an opportunity to “invest in a piece of winemaking history”.
The buyer will receive a full set of Penfolds Grange, with each bottle signed by the winemakers, as well as a VIP tour of the Australian vineyard where it was made.
The collection of 56 bottles of rare vintages spans six decades of Grange, from the first vintage of 1951 through to current vintage of 2007. It also includes 13 magnum cases, some from Penfolds’ 2004 Bin 60A.
The Penfolds wine team will also work with the buyer to acquire £50,000 of unique Penfolds wines to tailor ‘The Penfolds Collection’ to the buyers taste.
Such a large collection will also require somewhere to store it, and the £1.2m asking price includes a ‘bespoke Penfolds cellar’ built in the buyer’s own home.
Hedonism Wines buyer Alistair Viner said: “This is an incredible once in a lifetime opportunity to purchase something truly special in the world of wine from one of the world’s greatest wineries.”
