So its Easter and you have four days off work. Obviously that means you will either be jetsetting abroad or drinking for four days and eating Easter eggs until you can only roll around your London abode in your undies covered in a mixture of crème egg filling and Kronenberg.
But if you decide you want to do something a little different this Easter, I have compiled a list of the best stuff around London.
Last chance to feast at Hawker House
If I was going to do one thing this Friday or Saturday it would be Hawker House. It’s the team behind Street Feast and they have taken over an old building in Dalston and transformed it into 3 floors of bars, restaurants and entertainment and trust me it’s good wholesome fun. Where else can you eat a kick ass lobster roll from Bobs Lobster, followed by a delicious taco from Breddos tacos and finish it up with one of the best burgers in town from Bleecker St Burger? It’s also the last weekend before it closes so expect it to be busy, Get there before 7pm for free entry (£4 after). Find out more here.
Get your kid on at a grown-ups’ playground club
If, like me, you enjoy acting like a small child, check out Regression Session which is basically a playground for grown-ups in a club. They normally have a bouncy castle and ball pits but this time they are taking over Light Box in Vauxhall so will be coming up with some new games such as Bubble-wrap Therapy and of course having a weird Easter hunt that you wouldn’t want any children to take part in. Check out their Facebook page for details.
Enjoy part of a 250kg ox roasted on a spit
You will definitely need to eat a roast at some point and yes lamb is the traditional meat served at Easter but Flat Iron are changing tradition and roasting a whole ox at The Ship in Wandsworth. Apparently it is 250kg beast of a longhorn steer and they will be roasting it on a giant spit from Thursday with the feasting from Saturday. More details here.
Free mini four-day festival
A mini festival is taking place for four days in Camden. Head to the Lock Tavern’s four-day music festival from Thursday until Sunday. There will be bands, DJs, pop-up restaurants and, did I mention that it’s free? Check out their website for more details.
Repent and revel at the wonder of St Paul’s
Do something holy. This is the perfect time to actually go to St Paul’s Cathedral, one of the most famous buildings in London. They will be having Easter services over the weekend and on Sunday the Bishop of London will be there. It’s a good opportunity to repent over your previous days antics, even if you just go to have a look around the church, you can always pretend you repented… Read more here.
Hopefully some of these suggestions will encourage you to do something a little different around London this Easter. And if I save just one person from contracting diabetes owing to a chocolate overload, I feel I have done my job.
Enjoy your holidays and remember its totally fine to have Easter eggs for breakfast this weekend.
