The Caloundra Music Festival proudly offers something for everyone, but it’s the line-up of Aussie music legends where this Sunshine Coast shindig really shines.
Set to take place at Queensland’s Caloundra Beach this spring long weekend, 3-6 October, the 2014 festival promises “sun, surf and soul across five stages and boasts an impressive list of contemporary Australian music superstars, including Megan Washington, Ball Park Music, The Beautiful Girls, Pete Murray and John Butler Trio.

However, for the more mature music lovers amongst us, and especially those who have languished overseas long enough to have risked rotting our Oz Rock roots, the festival also presents a rare opportunity to catch a host of classic Australian bands and performers from the 80s and 90s, live! …. And as we know, Aussie music was oh-so-much better then.
On Friday, Sydney outfit Skunkhour funk up the Soul stage. On Sunday catch James Reyne howling out his solo and Australian Crawl hits, Tina Arena will no doubt remind us that she still has some of the best pipes in the land while Baby Animals (pictured, above) crank out their mighty Oz Rock anthems. Then on Monday, 1927 (yeah, remember them? That’s When I Think of You’ and… the other one) are followed by an all-star vintage hootenanny with Richard Clapton and Russell Morris joining Joe Camilleri and Vika & Linda Bull (They are so doing Chained to the Wheel’).
