Chris Hemsworth, has topped People magazine’s 2014 list of sexiest men alive.
The Australian hunk, described by the celeb mag as the ‘Awesome Aussie’, fended off some serious competition with Chris Pratt, Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey all vying for this year’s top honours.
Announced on the Jimmy Kimmel Show this week, audience members tried to guess the identity of who, for 2014, is considered the standard all men will be measured by.
Disguising his voice and face, the audience guessed Hemsworth’s identity when it came to light that he was a skinny kid born outside of the USA who is not single and not fan of Lincoln motor cars. After that, it was pretty easy when he acknowledged he plays a super hero using a hammer.
The ‘Thor’ star said in a short interview, “I’m most excited about the ‘alive’ portion of that statement,” adding that he was flattered.
The 31-year-old Australian native said his brother, Liam, has been supportive.
“Liam’s been good,” Hemsworth said. “We’ve been throwing sexy looks back and forth … He’s been a real team player through this one.”
Hemsworth thanked is parents for his success saying, ”My parents, I guess, for putting this together,” when asked what he attributed his success to.
In being crowned People magazine’s ‘Sexiest Man Alive’, Hemsworth dethrones last year’s winner, Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine.
