CODA has been one of the major wins at the Oscars competing with Netflix’s Power of the Dog. The night was filled with many other great films and includes “The Eyes of Tammy Faye”.

Currently, Troy Kotsur has won an Oscar for the best supporting actor in the film. In a heartwarming speech, Troy Kotsur shared his experience as a deaf individual. He relayed that his father was the best at signing.

Apple TV gets its first major win
For Apple TV, CODA will be their first major win at the Oscars. But, Netflix didn’t go home empty-handed as Jane Campion took home an award for best director. She is the third woman to win this title so far.
Thus far, Apple TV has spent at least 25 million to obtain the copyright to stream CODA as relayed by LA Times. It seems that this was worth it. Now, with the pandemic changing the way the digital world operates, films had to be shown through other means.
While many may have been preoccupied with the different fantastic nominations such as CODA, the night took a quick turn when Will Smith and Chris Rock had their little moment.
It appears that Chris Rock made a joke about his wife and it didn’t go down well as Jada didn’t look impressed. What followed, shocked everyone as Will Smith went on stage to slap Chris Rock.

Awkwardly, Will Smith went on stage to receive his award for King Richard and apologized to his fellow nominees. Other wins include Jessica Chastain for best actress.
Right now, CODA is the first streaming film to win an Oscar award.
