Deborah James: The Journalist and Bowel Babe Campaigners’ last words

Deborah James was first diagnosed with incurable bowel cancer back in 2016. However, this is not cut her life short as the Journalist and Podcast host did as much as she could in the days leading up to her death.

Right now, the family has shared the last words of the late Journalist in which she shared some words of wisdom to her fans and the public alike. 

“Find a life worth enjoying; take risks; love deeply; have no regrets; and always, always have rebellious hope. And finally, check your poo – it could just save your life,”

According to 7News, Deborah James has been receiving end-of-life care at her home leading up to the days of her death. The podcaster was diagnosed with bowel cancer at the age of 35 just days before Christmas in 2016. 

Family gives their thanks to the public

Last month, Deborah James launched a bowel babe fundraiser for research on the illness. Thus far, the campaign has raised over $6 million for the research.

During the Queens long weekend ceremony, Deborah James and her husband went to an Opera concert for one last time as stated by Deborah. The pair was last at the event in 2017 and attended the event again during the Queens Jubilee celebrations. 

However, Deborah shared that it was extremely draining physically to get ready for the event. But, the journalist felt she needed to do something she loved one last time. 

“I can’t believe I was last here five years ago this week – scared, newly diagnosed,”

So far, the family thanked the public for the support they have shown to them and Deborah James. The family shared a heartfelt message after the tragic passing of their beloved. 

“We thank you for giving us time in private as a family, and we look forward to continuing Deborah’s legacy long into the future through the Bowel Babe Fund.”
