Barry Keoghan will be playing the Joker in the new Batman film alongside Robert Pattison. In the deleted footage, we are able to see just what the film would have looked like.
In an interview with Collider, the film director Matt Reeves stated that the deleted scene didn’t quite do justice to the film and would have given an entirely different narrative. This would be the scene with Barry Keoghan and Batman.
“Not because anyone asked me to cut it, but [I didn’t think] it was necessary,”
Matt Reeves
While this may not have made it in the movie, the scene was released to the fans. That is, those who had gotten the riddle right as relayed by Indie Wire. Their reward? The unseen footage that didn’t make it in the movie.
Well, what happens in the film? So, Barry Keoghan obviously plays the villain in the new Batman film. But we see that his appearance is not so easy on the eye as his face seems a bit jacked up.
In the encounter with Barry Keoghan and Robert Pattison, we come to see that Batman is actually on the lookout for answers from Joker. That is, why the Riddler keeps leaving him notes at every crime scene.
Since Batman cannot figure this out on his own, Barry Keoghan is the go-to person to get answers from. But he doesn’t make the visit pleasant or easy. Does he ever though?
Now, not that it was important but Matt Reeves decided that the scene in its entirety would change where the film would go. In his explanation, Matt relayed that the film really goes through the lens of the villains and shows sides of the villains we haven’t seen before.

At the end of the film, we will get to see Barry Keoghan and Riddler opposite one another in prison.
It’s kind of like finding out their origin story as every villain does of course.
