The Sydney Film Festival is back after being pushed countless times. Here’s what you need to know.
Since lock-down restrictions have been eased, the world can come back to some normalcy. This normalcy includes The Sydney Film Festival which is usually held in June every year. Around this time, the festival is held for 12 days from 3 – 12 November.
The tickets for The Sydney Film Festival officially went on sale at midnight on 6 October and selling fast. For this year, the line-up of a variety of films from the year 2018 till the present, Sydney’s most popular festival of the year will be eventful.
As the festival took place online in 2020, watchers are given a choice to participate online or in person. For those participating in the in-person event, screenings taking place at multiple venues including the state theatre and palace central broadway to name a few.
This year, around 223 films from around the world are being broadcast at the festivals different locations. Before the film event progresses, the award for climate emergency documentary film is to be handed out. The award is valued at $10 000 for the most informative narrative. In addition, the award given is entirely philanthropic – sponsored by climate change activists.
Around eight documentaries from around the world have been shortlisted for the prize, with the most anticipated films of the year are said to make their appearance at the festival.
As the event is able to take place in its usual form, film lovers are in for a treat. For many, the pandemic caused an interruption in their daily lives, and bringing back their much-loved traditions is only one of the many things Australians love to do.
