Twitter’s top trending hashtags of 2015

As 2015 draws to a close, the mighty Twitter has revealed its users top trends of the year.

The hashtag has definitely become the sign of the times. Covering news, sport, celebrity and lifestyle, this year’s list of biggest hashtags features a regular dose of Apple products, US Republican presidential hopefuls, One Direction and terrorism. At least Bieber got roasted this year.

And a special mention to Australia’s very own #auspol which came in a very respectable third for politics – keep up those leadership spills, guys.

Oh, and by the way, the most retweeted tweets of the year? Well, of the top 5, four were by One Direction (#sigh). President Obama came in fourth.
