Kylie Minogue confirms she’s the new coach on The Voice UK

AUSTRALIAN pop princess Kylie Minogue has confirmed she will be joining series three of The Voice UK, tweeting the news to her 1.8 million followers earlier today.

Minogue tweeted: #Lovers. I’m excited to announce that I’ll be coaching on @BBCTheVoiceUK next season!

Minogue will join fellow coach Sir Tom Jones, and will.i.am to film series three. Previous coaches Jessie J and The Script lead singer Danny O’Donoghue pulled out after series two ended.

Sir Tom Jones followed Minogue in taking to Twitter to announce the good news.

“We’re back!! And with new coach @kylieminogue this will be a season to remember!” he tweeted.

The BBC talent program sees icons of the music industry ‘coach’ performers through a televised singing competition.

Minogue’s participation in the show is likely to be a significant ratings booster, with the show failing to compete against Simon Cowell enterprise Britain’s Got Talent on ITV.

Audiences dropped to 7.65 million in 2013, after series one attracted an average 9.21 million.

The Australian singer has enjoyed a successful career in the United Kingdom, while a recent guest appearance on The X-Factor Australia resulted in a notable ratings increase.

“In terms of pop royalty, it really doesn’t get much better than Kylie,” said Moira Ross of The Voice UK’s production company, Wall To Wall.

“With more than two decades of global success under her belt, I know she’ll bring something truly special to the coaching line-up.”

The search to replace O’Donoghue continues, the BBC said. Series three of The Voice begins in January 2014.
