Mad Max: Fury Road was the biggest winner at the 2016 Academy Awards.
In a year which saw the gongs spread across a very open field, George Miller’s incredible visual feast stood out. The Australian director’s return to his beloved Mad Max franchise after some 30 years did not win any of the big awards, however it did clean up in the design and editing categories, winning six of the 10 awards it was nominated for. The closest rival to Mad Max: Fury Road was The Revenant with three Oscars from its 12 nominations.
