Microsoft Teams is an application used by 270 million people globally. As the world shifted to remote working in the past two years, this number has increased.
However, this Thursday, Microsoft Teams struggled with an hour-long outage after a new update failed this morning. As a result, many could not carry on with their daily work activities.
To date, Microsoft Teams shared a statement about the software stating that they are working on the issue. Currently
“We’re addressing any residual impact related to this event. Additionally, we are monitoring for any signs of failure until we’re confident that all functions of the service are fully recovered,”
So far, time differences meant that some regions were not heavily impacted. Right now, New Zealand and Australia have mostly been impacted.
While the outage mostly affected the before-mentioned regions, Reuters reports that the United States and Japan impacted 4 800 and 18 000 people respectively.
Before, many teams were unable to communicate, share work, or manage tasks together. As a result, Twitter flooded with memes about Microsoft. With frustration met by many.

Luckily, teams is now operating as per usual. Microsoft Teams will still monitor the application to detect any problems.
