The 2019 Academy Awards are done and dusted. And although the show felt a little flat without an actual host, it did throw up a few surprises in the end, including “Green Book” getting the nod for Best Picture ahead of more fancied rivals “Roma”, “BlacKkKlansmen”, and “Bohemian Rhapsody”.
Rami Malek was a popular choice as Best Actor for his turn as Queen frontman Freddie Mercury in “Bohemian Rhapsody” while Olivia Coleman beat the likes of Glen Close to the Best Actress gong for her role in “The Favorite”.
“A Star Is Born” was nominated for eight awards but only picked up one, in the Best Original Song category. “Green Book” took home three awards all up, as did “Roma” and Marvel superhero romp “Black Panther”, while “Bohemian Rhapsody managed four.
