Purple Hearts is a romance film centered on two individuals who get married for convenience. But, when Marine Luke gets sent home abruptly, the two form an unexpected union.
As the leading lady Cassie has an underlying condition that holds her back from exploring her singing career, she and Luke decide to wed. So that she is able to benefit from his medical aid.
While things seem all good and well during their time apart, Purple Hearts quickly takes a turn. As Cassie and Luke are forced to be around one another when he is injured and sent home from the military.
As shared by People, the lines between friendship and lovers are quickly blurred. This comes as the pair begin to spend time together around their family as well as alone.

During this time, Cassie and Luke are forced to behave as a married couple in front of their family and friends. From this moment on, the pair begin to break down their walls and reveal their true selves to one another.
Thus far, Purple Hearts embody a romance about people falling in love in the most unexpected way. In this case, it seems inevitable that the pair falls in love as their agreement itself represents a true friendship.
To date, Sophia Carson who executive produces the film shared her thoughts on Purple Hearts. As well as sharing the story as authentic as possible.
“We truly were on this journey together,” Carson says. “We wholeheartedly committed to being Cassie and Luke and to telling their love story honestly and vulnerably. It was emotional, but we were there for each other.”

Nicholas Galitzine, who plays Luke in the new Netflix film, shared that he spent a lot of time in the military. So that he may share the story of his character as best he could.
“I think there’s such specificity that is required to play such a character so it was very much about understanding the process of creating a Marine — what basic training looked like, the intensity of it all, how they carry themselves, body language,”
