While the world is completely freaking out about Donald Trump becoming the next president of the United States, other people are pointing out that it was all fortold.
Sixteen years ago, The Simpsons joked that this would happen. In an episode called “Bart to the Future,” Bart looks at his future self. Lisa has grown up to be president…AFTER Trump was at it.
Lisa says: “As you know, we’ve inherited quite a budget crunch from President Trump.”
Lisa would later learn that the country is completely broke after Trump’s presidency.
Simpsons writer Dan Greaney told The Hollywood Reporter that the line was “a warning to America.”
“What we needed was for Lisa to have problems that were beyond her fixing, that everything went as bad as it possibly could, and that’s why we had Trump be president before her,” he said.
Lisa for 2020, then?
