Australian YouTubers known as How Ridiculous smashed a Guinness World Record after sinking a 660 foot (201.422 m) basketball shot recently.
Derek Herron, a member of the How Ridiculous team, successfully made the shot after a lot of attempts from the top of the Maletsunyane Falls in Lesotho, Africa on January 13, 2018. He and the crew, made up of himself, Brett Stanford and Scott Gaunson, reportedly woke up at five each day during filming.
The magic happened while Herron was harnessed on the top of the waterfall, where he made the ridiculous shot and earned the title of the ‘Highest basketball shot’ ever in the Guinness World Records…yet again.
The new record broke the old one from the past, which belonged to the same YouTubers – referring to the 593 foot (180 m) Mauvoisin Dam (Switzerland) shot.
Derek Herron said he was thrilled to make the bucket on the sixth day of trying.
“It was my second day of shooting… I reckon I had maybe close to 400 attempts,” he told Sunrise.
“But it only needs one to go in.”
‘How Ridiculous’ originated in 2009 when the group began attempting trick shots in their backyards. Herron said the latest challenge continued a rapid rise for a group that began as merely a laugh among friends.
“When we started out, it was literally just a bit of fun and a few mates hanging out,” he said.
“We never dreamed that we’d be flying across the other side of the world to Africa to attempt something so epic.”

Suppose practise makes perfect! Maybe next year the group will top this feat with a bigger, more elaborate attempt than this one.
