If you want to know what it’s like for a blokes and sheilas in Outback Australia to get to the end of an epic drought, check this video out.
Taken just before Christmas, in the policeman of a town boasting a population of just 20 rejoices at seeing something most of us would find achingly banal… running water.
In his expletive laden commentary, the cop urges the stream on as it creeps across the dust.
The YouTube poster, his son, explains the situation in more detail:
“My dad works at a 1 man police station in the remote north west Queensland town of McKinlay, Australia (population 20). At the moment McKinlay is in the midst of a terrible drought, in fact 86% of Queensland has been drought declared so you can imagine my dads ‘double rainbow’ excitement at seeing the McKinlay river run! What a wonderful Christmas present!!!”
And thank you Santa, the delighted Aussie says.
