Former Australian cricketer Bronwyn Calver was cycling home from work in the cycle lane on Adelaide Avenue when a kangaroo bounced right into her.
Calver tried to brake and swerve but the kangaroo hit the front wheel of her bicycle and she was thrown off the side.
Three cars stopped to help Calver, as she suffered a deep knee injury and some road rash. Another car knocked over and killed the disorientated kangaroo.
Calver had a GoPro video camera strapped to her bicycle, and in the footage the kangaroo can be seen jumping in front of her bike and throwing her off.
Calver played representative cricket from age 13 and was a member of the Australian women’s cricket team that won the World Cup in 1997. In 2013 she was inducted into the ACT Sport Hall of Fame.
