A police task force in New South Wales is considering handing down a sentence of chemical castration to child sex-offenders.
If this new law is instituted New South Wales judges would be able to sentence culprits to undergo chemical castration. The state already uses the controversial drugs but only on a voluntary basis.
The controversial drugs reduces sexual desire while inhibiting the convict’s sexual performance and ultimately completely ending their ability to function sexually.
Speaking to the media New South Wales Justice Minister Troy Grant motivated the consideration saying that, “One of the worrying statistics that came out of our investigation is that up to 17 per cent of child sex offenders are likely to re-offend in two years,” and added, “We must do everything possible to reduce that figure.”
