A Brisbane medical doctor has been arrested and charged with supplying steroids and other dangerous drugs to Outlaw Motorcycle Gang members.
Police say the intention was to illegally sell these medications on to the public for profit.
The 52-year-old man has been taken into custody and charged with trafficking and supply of restricted medications and is expected to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today (Wednesday 23 September).
According to a statement from Queensland Police, detectives from the Organised Crime Gangs Group executed various search warrants across Brisbane on Tuesday, including two at medical practices in the suburbs of Fortitude Valley and Chermside.
During the search, police identified and seized items including steroids, prescription drugs and a large sum of cash.
Detective Inspector Larissa Miller of the Organised Crime Gangs Group said the unregulated use of prescription drugs causes significant community harm to people who may be inclined to abuse them.
“We will be alleging that these drugs were supplied to gang members by a medical practitioner who knew they were going to be on-sold within the community for profit.
“The Organised Crime Gangs group continues to target [gang] members and those who facilitate their offending, including people who hold professional positions of trust within our community,” Miller said.
In another incident involving Queensland Police, a man who shot a teenage girl with a bow and arrow at a supermarket in Ipswich, west of Brisbane, was apprehended by members of the public and held until officers arrived to arrest him.
The attack seems to have been random in nature and not specifically targeted at the 15-year-old, who was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A police statement said they started receiving multiple calls at around 4.30pm on Tuesday about a man walking down a road and discharging arrows.
A report by ABC News said he fired at a female jogger but missed, and also fired an arrow at a car. He then moved on to the supermarket and fired two more arrows.
