Reliability
There is nothing more frustrating than having to deal with connection drops just when you least expect/ need them. Possibly even worse, is not being able to get through to the company responsible. Your ISP needs to be reliable, and on top of their game. They need to have 24/7 customer support so you can contact them at any time to resolve issues. Length of Contract
As a rule of thumb, a contract should not exceed 2 years. This is mainly because services and other aspects could change; if you are locked in for a long time, you will not be able to go onto something better. Though they often offer reduced costs the longer the contract is, do not go over 2 years. You want to have the option of renewing your contract or terminating it periodically, so you have more flexibility.
