Darwin Shaken By Earthquake In Indonesia’s Band Sea

Darwin was woken up in the early hours of the morning at around 4 am. This tremor is said to have lasted for as long as a minute. 

The earthquake, which struck Indonesia overnight rocked the city of Darwin. 

According to Australians, this would be the longest earthquake they felt in the history of tremors they have already felt. 

The Bureau of Meteorology said there was no tsunami threat to the Australian mainland, island, or territories. 

No injuries Or Damages Reported

Thus far, no injuries or damages have been reported.

According to ABC News, some apartment building residents reported that the buildings were swaying in the city and the Nothern suburbs. 

Independent Meteorologists Karl Lijnders added that the duration of the impact was surprising. 

“This morning’s one got me surprised for how long it went for and the noise that accompanied it, it was really a churning and humming kind of noise.”

Darwin Experiences Earthquakes Regularly

Now, earthquakes impact the region of Darwin every year or so and don’t usually cause any serious damage.

Since the earthquake took place, a huge cloud of dust followed the 7.5 magnitude earthquake in Indonesia.

“I heard people running through the house, quite excited, it was pretty interesting, Our daughter just checked that her fish was OK, and that was it.”

In addition, reports of shaking in Arnhem Land and inland in Kakadu National Park has been reported on Thursday morning.
