Gareth Ward has been charged with historical sexual violence that dates back to 2013 and 2015. It is alleged that he sexually assaulted a 17-year-old boy and sexually assaulted a 27-year-old man in 2015.
Currently, Gareth Ward is denying that he has done anything wrong and intends to prove his innocence in court. He also does not wish to comment on the matter and only wishes to prove his innocence in court.
“While others have already attempted to prosecute my case in the media rather than the courts, out of respect for our system of justice I will not be doing the same.”
While the court case is set to take place in May, Premier Domonic Perrottet has come from paternity leave to urge Gareth Ward to be removed from the cabinet and resign from his position. There is no word on whether he has resigned. About a week ago, Perrotte welcomed another child with his wife.
According to ABC News, the Premier had also contacted the Liberal Party’s state director to ask that Mr. Ward be suspended from the party pending the outcome of his trial.
Presently, Gareth Ward who was the Minister for families, communities, and disability services was responsible for at least 17 000 children in care before standing down in May.
