Ghislaine has been convicted of trafficking young girls for the late Jeffrey Epstein. He killed himself while awaiting trial for a child sex case.
The victims who testified relayed that they were abused in the 1900s as well as the early 2000s.
According to experts, Ghislaine will struggle to overturn the high legal bar needed to overturn the verdict.
At this time, Ghislaine’s lawyers are already working on the appeal and are hoping she will be vindicated.
“We have already started the appeal tonight, and we believe that she will ultimately be vindicated.”
With regards to the verdict, Maxwell’s siblings believe that their sister is innocent and are very disappointed with the verdict thus far.
“We believe firmly in our sister’s innocence. We are very disappointed with the verdict,”
So, since Jeffrey Epstein didn’t get to be tried in court, other involved will face the consequences.
In an attempt to show that Judge Nathan has made an error, the defense lawyers need to show that the error is indeed relevant to the case.
In addition to her sex trafficking charges, Ghislaine Maxwell faces two perjury counts which will be tried separately.
At this time, the defense attorneys could appeal to Judge Nathan’s decision to decline three defense witnesses to testify anonymously in the court.
Now, Judge Nathan also instructed that Ghislaine will be guilty if she deliberately ignored Epstein’s wrongdoing. This concept is “conscious avoidance” as stated by ABC news.
In addition, Judge Nathan’s privacy concerns did not apply to the defense witnesses. This comes as the defense witnesses weren’t testifying on sensitive issues.
According to ABC News, Maxwell was convicted of conspiracy to entice a minor to travel to engage in illegal sex acts, conspiracy to transport a minor with the intent to engage in criminal sexual activity, transporting a minor with the intent to engage in criminal sexual activity, conspiracy to commit sex trafficking of minors and sex trafficking of minors.
Ghislaine Maxwell is still awaiting her sentence.
