Kim Potter appeared in court for a crime she committed on April 11th this year. While waiting on the verdict, the jury concluded that she is in fact guilty of the murder of Daunte Wright.
In her testimony, Kim relayed that she had mistaken her gun for a taser. She further explained that she didn’t mean to hurt anyone while tearfully relaying her testimony.
Kim Potter Found Guilty Regardless Of ‘Mistake’
During her trial, it was consistently repeated that Kim Potter had simply made a mistake by using her gun instead of her taser.
It was determined that she indeed knew that she had both weapons on her belt and knew how to decipher the difference between the two weapons. She resigned two days later.
Through the footage provided by her body camera, Potter is seen holding her gun instead of a taser.
Bail To Be Home For The Holidays Denied
In an attempt to have her spend Christmas at home, her defense attorney asked the judge if she could be released on bail until she receives her sentence but the judge relayed that this case cannot be treated differently from any other case.
While Kim awaited the verdict, a crown outside in support of Katie Bryant, Daunte Wright’s mother also anxiously awaited the verdict.
At the point in which Kim was found guilty, a crowd in support of Katie Bryant is seen cheering pleasantly happy with the outcome.
Katie Bryant Relieved On The Outcome
After the trial, Katie Bryant was asked how she felt about the verdict, she relayed that she let out a yelp when she heard Kim Potter has been found guilty on the first count of murder.
At this time, Kim faces seven years in prison but prosecutors are seeking a longer sentence in the days to come.
