Matthew McConaughey, originally from Texas has spoken passionately about the need for gun reform in America. Following the tragic shooting in Texas, it brought back concerns for stricter gun control.
Thus far, many cities in America have made a great effort to change the age of those who are able to own a gun. In New York City, this age limit has been changed from 18 to 21.
Previously, an 18-year-old purchased a gun on his birthday which then led to the tragic shooting at Robb Elementary school. This mass shooting saw 19 children and two teachers killed.
Right now, Matthew McConaughey has urged the Senators to change the gun laws in America which allows dangerous people to purchase guns. Especially those underage to do so.
As Matthew McConaughey grew up in Texas, he spent at least a week in Uvalde. During this time, the actor made time to speak to the parents of the deceased children.
In his speech, Matthew McConaughey brought up the names of multiple victims who had a bright future ahead of them. According to The Guardian, shared the dreams of each of these children.
“These are the same green Converse, on her feet, that turned out to be the only clear evidence that could identify her after the shooting,”
Mattew McConaughey also brought up little Elihania Garcia who loved dancing and church. Ellie was excited to read a verse from the bible in church and was killed before she could do this.
In aid to protect the young children and people in general, politicians and Senators alike should consider background checks and longer waiting periods in order to get a gun.

“We need to invest in mental healthcare. We need safer schools. We need to restrain sensationalized media coverage. We need to restore our family values. We need to restore our American values and we need responsible gun ownership,”
