Following the successful vaccination of at least 70% of the population, the Queensland border will be open for travel.
Given that the vaccination percentage reaches 70% by 19 November, travel restrictions will be eased. The decision comes as many have been separated from families.
Additionally, restrictions will be completely relaxed given the population reaches its 80% goal by 17 December. This will allow citizens to travel if they are fully vaccinated.
Of course, these rules apply so that everyone can remain safe and avoid another lock-down or regional lock-down. With that being said, those who do not get vaccinated increase the risk of a covid-19 surge in their areas which will inevitably lead to the latter.
“If we have a big outbreak, for example, it could be in central Queensland, they may have to go into a lockdown,”
In order for individuals to move freely to see their families and enjoy their previously known leisure activities, Mr. Miles reiterates that it is essential to get vaccinated to bring back normalcy.
To those unvaccinated, freedoms will not be available to them as they increase the risk of Covid-19 infections.
While these freedoms are able to be enjoyed by those fully vaccinated, a 14-day quarantine does apply to those traveling as well as providing a negative Covid-19 test to proceed with the travel plans.
