Rust script supervisor has now come out to file a lawsuit against Alec Baldwin.
While it has been previously communicated that the shooting on the set of Rust was an accident, Maine Mitchell claims that it is not so.
In her lawsuit against Alec Baldwin, Mitchell states that, though Baldwin may not have intended to injure or kill anyone, he intentionally handled the now-infamous revolver in an unsafe way.
It is further noted that Alec shot and fired his gun in a scene where it was not required or in the script. The filing further illustrates that Alec should have regarded the weapon as live regardless of being told that it was cold – a slang term for a gun with no ammunition.
“Alec Baldwin should have assumed that the gun in question was loaded unless and until it was demonstrated to him or checked by him that it was not loaded.”
Since the assistant director said the prop was cold, Alec Baldwin is not the only one in legal trouble for the tragic event onset.
“He had no right to rely upon some alleged statement by the Assistant Director that it was a ‘cold gun,’” asserting that Baldwin “cannot hide behind the Assistant Director [David Halls] to attempt to excuse the fact that he did not check the gun himself.”
At this time, it has been confirmed that there have in fact been previous incidents on set in where live ammunition was shot. One case includes the prop master who accidentally shot herself in the foot.
