Sebastian Vettel has had quite the career. Now it seems that he will be hanging up his helmet as he announced his retirement from F1 at the end of the season.
Formula 1 driver Sebastian Vettel retires
Thus far, Sebastian Vettel has won the third most races in the formula one races. The racer racked up at least 53 wins so far.
To date, the racer shared on his newly created Instagram account that he will be retiring from Formula 1. This comes after speculations that Aston Martin will be extending his contract for another season.
Right now, Sebastian Vettel shared that he will be focussing on other interests such as the environment. The racer actively made his feelings known about climate change.
“At the end of the year I want to take some more time to reflect on what I will focus on next; it is very clear to me that, being a father, I want to spend more time with my family.”
Racer will seek other endeavors
Just months ago, Sebastian made waves when he wore a t-shirt to the Grand Prix that highlighted climate change back in May. The t-shirt read “Miami 2060. 1st Grand Prix under water. Act now or swim later.”
The racer is also one of many Formula 1 drivers who protested against the grueling 23 calendar day schedule. This schedule made it difficult for racers to spend time with their families.
