A number of people have been injured in what police are treating as a terrorist incident in central London.
At just after 7:30am on Tuesday morning, according to the BBC, witnesses say a car appeared to be deliberately driven into pedestrians and cyclists before crashing into security barriers outside the Houses of Parliament in Westminster.
The driver of the silver Ford Fiesta, reportedly a man in his late 20s, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of terrorist offences and taken to a south London police station.
Police are treating the situation as a terrorist incident. The Met’s Counter Terrorism Command is heading up investigations with Assistant Commissioner Neil Basu saying the incident “appears to be a deliberate act”, according to Sky News (UK).
It is being reported that two people were taken to hospital while another was treated at the scene.
According to Sky News (UK), police have said the suspect was “not currently cooperating”.
