Sydney and NSW are experiencing the worst of the flood for the third time this year. This comes just a few months since Sydney became inundated with floods in March and April.
Thus far, a woman and her 6- week old baby have been rescued from their place of residence since the heavy rains that have been consistent since Saturday. The Bureau of Meteorology warned that the weather conditions could continue to worsen.
Right now, if you’re in dire danger, you’re encouraged to call 000 to receive help immediately. To date, military vehicles have been circulating in areas to rescue those in need of help.
According to Reuters, Sydney residents have been warned that the weather conditions can worsen. So far, evacuation warnings have been sent out to some areas with some being warned to leave the area immediately.
To date, Sydney has been inundated once again for the fourth time in 18 months. Thus far, Federal Emergency minister Murray Watt shared that the increasing change in weather is due to climate change.
With this, Murray stated that climate change should be taken more seriously. Right now, floods have been reported to have fallen to as high as 300mm. However, this could increase with time.
For safety reasons, residents are urged to evacuate their homes until it is safe to return again. Presently, the floods return at a time when some roads have not been fixed since the previous floods months ago.
“Most of them have just come out of the last flood, getting their homes back in place, their businesses back in place and unfortunately we are saying it is happening again.”
