World Cup Qualification: The Socceroos Drops Below Japan

World Cup qualifications are leaving competitive teams giving their all in recent games to take the final spot to qualify for next year’s game.

After the Socceroos had a disappointing draw with China in their last game, the team is now in third place which will as a result lead to much more difficulty in getting the top spot.

In the Socceroos match with China, the team would have found themselves in second place had they won in their previous game. This comes as the fate of the team depended on a penalty kick from China.

So, what does this mean for the Socceroos world cup playoffs?

Well, at the moment the Socceroos have lost their advantage in qualifying for the upcoming World Cup finals. The team now sits with 11 points while Japan has 12 and Saudi Arabia has sixteen.

As a result, the team will have to work harder in order to make their World Cup playoffs a reality.

According to abc.net, the Socceroos can get results against Vietnam and Oman — no certainty after last night’s scoreline — then they will likely need to at least beat Japan and draw with Saudi Arabia to get second place and a trip to the finals.
